ATTN: Neighboring Cities: Cleveland Street conversion update

Cleveland Street construction to convert to 2-way lanes.  Expected completion is end of 2017 according to the Mayor.  Suggest taking the Bear Creek Parkway whenever possible.  I took this video Saturday early morning when traffic was light. Traffic is nasty during the weekdays.

Redmond Way construction isn't so good either -- this video shows it (and 6-story rental construction.)

The "new" Cleveland Street is defined my the dirt "lane"

  1. This road construction has been an absolute joke, driving through this everyday going to and coming home from work has done nothing but waste my time and damage my car, I feel I should send someone a bill for an alignment on my rig. With having been in the construction business doing many, many, state, city, and county road projects, no way should a project like this take this long or be left a mess as it is, the road is insanely awful, very limited access for sidewalk use for pedestrians and most importantly I see through the whole project horrible ADA availability up and down all blocks of construction. The project is a bust.

  2. it's been a pain getting into downtown redmond, especially from 85th unto redmond way. Ive been ditching my car to walk whenever possible around here because traffic has been so awful on Bear Creek Pkwy and Cleveland street.

  3. So they narrowed down the road 2 years ago and now they'll make it 1 lane in each direction I assume. What a bunch of bozos running the city!

  4. Couplet streets, where each is one direction, have failed and are being ripped out in nearly every city that had them. They're unsafe and don't even make traffic flow better (which was the original rationale for creating these things).

  5. Can someone draw me a map of what it's suppose to look at the end, I thought I had an idea of what was going on, but now I'm confused and avoid it by jumping onto 520 by the Marymore Park entrance and getting off 520 just before target. It use to be faster to drive behind redmond Town center, but since the construction it actually makes me an extra 5 mins with traffic. But 520 it cuts off a good 5 or so minutes and I'm guessing it's cause everyone's now stuck in redmond lol.

  6. I'd agree with you on couplet streets, however, before they started mucking with Cleveland st you had 3 lanes EB and 3 lanes WB on Redmond way. What's it going to be now, one lane each way on Redmond and 1 lane each way on Cleveland? Traffic "engineers" who think we should be reducing lanes when traffic and population are growing need to be fired ASAP.

  7. I have a friend who relies on a wheel chair to get around in downtown Redmond. She lives near the Redmond Transit Center. She has faces serious obstacles on the sidewalks of Redmond. She has gotten stuck in the loose gravel at the intersections along Redmond Way and Cleveland Street. Once her chair tipped over. Some nice guys jumped out of their truck to help get her back up. This accident occurred in the construction zone featured in this video about returning Cleveland Street to a two way road way.

  8. Richard, very sorry to hear this...so sad. I wonder if calling 911 for assistance in advance of traveling on the sidewalk would help.
