UPDATED: Robin Campbell Appointed To EvergreenHealth Board

 Robin Campbell, PhD

KIRKLAND, Wash. – The Board of Commissioners of King County Public Hospital District #2 (EvergreenHealth) recently appointed Robin Campbell, PhD, to fill a vacant position on the Board, serving in Position #5 as an at-large representative. Campbell joins the Board effective March 19, 2024, and replaces Commissioner David Edwards, who vacated the position in December 2023 after being elected to the Woodinville City Council.

Campbell is a retired executive and board director with 35 years of experience in life science companies such as Ciba-Geigy Pharmaceuticals, Amgen, Aptitude Medical Systems and Pfenex, Inc. He also lectured at the University of California, Santa Barbara's Technology Management Program, focusing on business strategy and marketing for technology-based firms.

"Robin is a highly knowledgeable and successful executive who brings a valuable perspective to the EvergreenHealth Board," said EvergreenHealth Board Secretary Jeff Cashman. "His experience working in life sciences paired with his acumen for business strategy and marketing will be a great asset to our hospital system. I look forward to working with him and our fellow commissioners as we continue to ensure EvergreenHealth meets our community's critical, changing needs."

Campbell holds a B.A. in Zoology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from Wake Forest University School of Medicine. Campbell served as an EvergreenHealth Community Advisor from 2023-2024. He also volunteers at Woodland Park Zoo and offers free coaching to small business owners through SCORE, a resource partner of the Small Business Administration.

"My time as an EvergreenHealth Community Advisor offered me great insight into what an amazing organization EvergreenHealth is. The delivery of medical services is one of the most complex enterprises there is, and EvergreenHealth remains devoted to providing quality care to everyone who steps through our doors," Campbell said. "I'm looking forward to working with the rest of the Board and help continue EvergreenHealth's legacy of high-quality, high-value care."

Campbell joins six other board members – Virgil Snyder, Board Chair; Jeff Cashman, Board Secretary; Rebecca Hirt, Charles Pilcher, M.D., Nancy Stewart and Norman Seabrooks. The elected Board of Commissioners governs EvergreenHealth, providing oversight, counsel and accountability to EvergreenHealth's leadership team, ensuring the public hospital district fulfills its mission and values and provides high-quality care for everyone in the community.

Campbell's appointment completes the seven-member Board of Commissioners. He will serve the remainder of the current term through Dec. 31, 2025.

  1. They should have appointed Amber Wise who was a finalist for the position. She was clearly the best candidate for the job.
