Overlake Owls Boys and Girls lacrosse teams win Friday; Eastside Catholic Boys Drop rival Eastlake; Lake Sammamish wins 9th game

Overlake drops MI to take over first place in D2 Northeast
MERCER ISLAND – Katie Hill, Sarah Silvermanand Kat Shewchuk each scored 4 goals to lead Overlake to its 11th win of the season with a 15 – 2 girls Division II high school lacrosse win over Mercer Island, Friday at Mercer Island High School. The win moved the Owls past Bellevue East and into sole possession of first place of the Northeast Conference.
Mercer Island’s Dalia Nayfeh and Sarah Hanan each had a goal and Audrey Airut-Murphy had 14 saves for the Islanders.

The Owls jumped out to a 13 – 2 lead in the first and cruised with two more goals in the second.

Overlake finished its season 11-1-0, while Mercer Island finished 3-9-0.

Umberger nets 4 goals as Overlake defeats Lakeside in boys lacrosse

REDMOND – Colton Umberger scored 4 goals to lead Overlake to its fourth win of the season with an 11 – 7 boys high school lacrosse defeat of Lakeside, Friday at The Overlake School in Redmond.

For Overlake, frost Cunningham added 3 goals and Erik Risa netted 2 goals and 2 assists and collected 15 ground balls.

The Owls jumped to a 5 – 1 lead in the first before matching Lakeside with solo goals in the second to take a 6 – 2 lead into the half. In the third, Lakeside outscored the Lions 3 – 2 to narrow the margin to 8 – 5. But Overlake again pushed ahead outscoring Lakeside 3 – 2 in the final quarter.

Both schools conclude the regular season next week. Overlake (4-9-0) faces Curtis, Thursday, May 12 in a 5 p.m. start at the Overlake School in Redmond. Lakeside (3-13-0) faces Tacoma, Wednesday, May 11 in a 5 p.m. start at the Lakeside School in north Seattle.

 Eastside Catholic drops rival Eastlake for 12th win in boys lacrosse

SAMMAMISH – Eastside Catholic cruised to its 12th win of the season with an 11 – 7 boys high school lacrosse defeat of plateau rival Eastlake, Friday at Eastside Catholic High School.

The win moved Eastside Catholic to within three and a half games of Northeast Conference leader Mercer Island.

Eastside Catholic (12-5-0) next faces Mukilteo (2-10-0), Tuesday, May 10 in an 8 p.m. start at Kamiak High School in Mukilteo. Eastlake (10-6-1) next faces Northshore (7-8-0) in its final game of the season, Wednesday, May 11 in an 8 p.m. start at Bothell High School.

Masterleo nets 5 goals to lead Lake Sammamish past Bellevue East

REDMOND – Marlena Masterleo scored five goals to lead Lake Sammamish to its ninth win of the season with a 13–12 girls' Division II high school lacrosse win over Bellevue East on Friday at Marymoor Park in Redmond.
Sophie Wolz scored four goals for Bellevue East.

Lake Sammamish finished its season at 9-3-0, while Bellevue East finished 10-2-0.
