Historic 'win' for EvergreenHealth Proposition 1, Levy Lid Lift
With 24.12% of EvergreenHealth Prop 1 ballots counted on August 5th, 25,453 (60.54%) were approved and 16,591 (39.46%) were rejected. Passage of this measure was an historic 'win' for the community!
Hi, Bob, I hope you are well. With the August 7th count, 28% of the registered voters of the district have had their ballots counted, and Prop 1 has received 60% yeses! I don't think there will be a lot more left to count, given past August primaries, so I think we can be cautiously very optimistic that it passed. I want to thank you for your support of Prop 1, as well as everyone who voted to retain compassionate quality care on the Eastside. I look forward to working with the other Commissioners and EvergreenHealth management to expanding those services we need the most. I hope to see you soon, Robin

~ 25% of the electorate voted (from 8/5 - / 7.) We were paying a levy of .14/ $1,000 assessed property. The lid was lifted from .14/1000 to .50/1000; A property assessed at $800,000 is equivalent to about a $400/month car payment. ----- I remember when EvergreenHealth proposed a bond measure (twice) in 2019 some of the "distant" cities like Kenmore felt they were too far away for to benefit from the bond...even though you have a nice urgent care in Kenmore.. With passage of the levy Kenmore and Bothell will have outpatient behavioral care clinics run by social workers and a psychiatrist for remote and in-person treatment. One in five have a mental health conditions so you will have a direct benefit from this levy.....
Steve, PUBLIC (not private) hospital districts --like school districts-- levy taxes and propose bond measures to raise money for operations & maintenance or to raise capital. EvergreenHealth has the state's largest public hospital taxing district: LWSD schools is the second largest public taxing district in the state. Both are nonprofit. I hope that helps.
So happy to hear this! I worked as a nurse at Evergreen Hospital for many years and it is a fabulous place. The quality of care when I needed it was amazing and this hospital is a gem worth investing in!
At last! No other news outlook, paper or electronic has posted any results. Thank you Redmond.
