Affordable Housing Council President Bonnie Geers of Quadrant Homes said of the votes, “The AHC’s decision to support these school bond measures reflects our strong desire to help ensure the Lake Washington, Issaquah and Everett school districts can keep pace with our region’s growth and continue to provide quality education for students well into the future.  We recognize how important schools are to the quality of life in our communities. Having adequate facilities will enable these school districts to better meet the needs of students and help them succeed,” Geers added.

Prior to the AHC’s votes on the Lake Washington and Issaquah school districts’ bond measures, which took place at their Jan. 26 board meeting, representatives of both school districts presented information to the AHC Board about the need for additional funding to address overcrowding and aging facilities.  They also discussed the most pressing needs that the bonds are designed to address.  Additional information reviewed by the AHC Board led to a subsequent vote on the Everett school bond measure, known as Proposition 2.

The Lake Washington School District is seeking a $398 million bond and the Issaquah School District’s construction and maintenance bond is for $533.5 million.  Proposition 2 in Everett is for a $149 million bond. Ballots for all three bond measures are due April 26.
