Kirkland, Wash.: Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWTech) is celebrating Mental Health Awareness Month by hosting its 7th annual Mental Health and Community Resource Fair on May 7. LWTech is demonstrating its commitment to educating and connecting people in need to community resources by ensuring several state agencies and community organizations have booths at the event. Organizations with booths include: the Department of Social and Human Services (DSHS), NAMI Eastside, Hopelink, KITH Cares, Crisis Clinic of King County, Molina Healthcare and Consejo Counseling and Referral.
Dr. Caprice Hollins, CEO of Cultures Connecting LLC, will be the Keynote presenter. Her presentation, Microaggressions: Removing Barriers to teaching and Learning, will touch on issues surrounding microaggressions, what they are, why people often react the way they do, and the hidden underlying messages they convey in order to assist us in effectively engaging and deepening our relationships with others.
This event is open to the general public, and will take place at Lake Washington Institute of Technology, 11605 132nd Ave. NE, Kirkland, WA 98034.
