A series on Redmond's emerging medical services - why are they here? how do we decide?

"Thanks for sharing this blog. Since there are tons of emergency care centers nowadays and it is hard what and where to choose I still do believe in some reviews since it is hard to select which one is telling the truth."
-- Trixie, July 8, 2011 a Reader's comment under the post:  "Urgent Care vs. Emergency Care"

As of today, I'm starting an 8-part series on Redmond's booming new medical services to try to answer some of Trixie's concerns and provide facts and data to help you decide where to go for services.  Once every 2-4 weeks I'll post a story.  Hopefully, YOU will contribute a comment or personal experience to help our Readers or "bandage your wounds."  Read More >>

Redmond has exploded this past year with free-standing Emergency Rooms (ER) facilities, Imaging and Laboratory Centers, Urgent Care Centers, new medical clinics, and existing clinics changing their hours and services to adapt to these newcomers.  In one year, Redmond has become the emerging medical services center of the Eastside.

This series will cover many topics of the Who, What, When, and Whys of Redmond's growing medical complex.  The genesis of free-standing ER's and burgeoning Urgent Care Centers - their pitfalls and advantages - will be covered.  How you select the right service you need, and more.  Your personal experiences, and comments will be posted (with your approval, of course).

In  Celebrating Redmond's 100th Year Anniversary, Mayor John Marchione has been quoting Redmond's progressive history of commerce as::  "a trading post and lumber town,"  an aerospace industry ('58 Rocket Research), the international software complex, and emerging digital arts center. (John likes Redmond's growing brewery business too).  Perhaps in the next 100 years Redmond will add medical and biotechnology industries to the list.

So, hold onto your venipuncture sites, thermometers, Oxycontin, splints, doctor's hand, wallets, and insurance cards. Enjoy the ride!  I can assure you this series will be full of ups and downs, twist and turns, some enlightenment and lots of good information.
