Flynn Announced Campaign for Redmond City Council

Redmond, Washington (May 11, 2011) - Tom Flynn announced on Tuesday, May 10, his campaign for Redmond City Council, Position #5.

“As a long time resident of the city, I value Redmond’s beautiful natural environment, the city’s economic vitality, and its strong sense of community,” said Flynn. “I want to preserve these unique qualities while the city plans for future growth and change.”

“It will be vital for the city to have policies that support economic development, retain the beauty of our natural environment, and build on connections in the community,” Flynn said. “The urban design that is going into the Downtown and Overlake areas, as well as the Redmond Central Connector, are good examples of projects that address these issues while building functional and attractive urban centers.”   Click blue link to " Read More" >>

Flynn, who currently serves on the Redmond Planning Commission that is in the process of updating Redmond’s Comprehensive Plan said, “I look forward to talking with city residents about these issues and how the city council can help to keep Redmond a desirable place to live and work.”

Flynn has been active in Redmond schools, serving as an Einstein Elementary PTSA Vice President and classroom reading mentor. He coached youth soccer for eight years in the Lake Washington Youth Soccer Association and softball in Redmond West Little League.

Flynn holds a Bachelor’s degree from Montana State University in Chemical Engineering, a Master’s degree from Tulane University in Public Health, and a Doctorate in Mythological Studies from Pacifica Graduate Institute. During his business career he has worked as a consultant in environmental health and safety, managing projects and staff, with finance and marketing responsibilities. He currently works at Puget Sound Energy as a compliance consultant for Energy Operations.

Flynn moved to Redmond in 1992. He and his wife Kim live on Education Hill. His son and his daughter graduated from Redmond High School and both are presently attending college in Washington State.
