News and opinion on local candidates running for office in 2011 -- LW Schools, Redmond, Evergreen, and KingCo.

UPDATED:  This post launches the beginning of Redmond Neighborhood Blog coverage on the November election and the candidates running.  The filing deadline to register for the ballot is June 10, less than 30-days away.

I've prepared this  Election 2011 - Candidate News to keep you posted on the latest news on the candidates and citizens who are considering a run.  When you visit the blog you will find this link on the front page header.  It's updated regularly.

"Election 2011 - Candidate News" is also a resource for those interested in running for an office.  As of today, of the ten local seats are up for grabs only eight candidates have filed!

The local governments this Blog follows are:  LW School School District (3 positions open), King County Evergreen Hospital District (1), City of Redmond Mayor/Council (5), and King County Council (1).

The jurisdiction of greatest concern is Lake Washington School District.  This District has three openings and, as of today, no one has filed.   Our community faces apathy at a time when representation is needed the most.  Severe budget cuts threaten basic education.  The failed capital bond measure now challenges and constrains our school district infrastructure.  District student populations are migrating east, threatening the quality of services elsewhere.

Over the next 3-4 weeks, I'll report on all four government elections with focus on the School & Hospital districts and the City council filings.  I hope you are encouraged to run for office or will encourage your friends and the incumbants of your liking.

Please use this Blog as a tool to find and promote your candidate of choice and express your opinion  here, and in other media.  All candidates and readers are invited to post on this Blog.  Please write to redmondblog@gmail.com with your city or neighborhood of residence and leave your name if you choose.  Thank you.

Please remember to visit this page for candidate updates.  You'll find lots of interesting stuff there now (and my disclosure statement).
