Recology Store Opening in Downtown Redmond

REDMOND, WA – Recology is opening a new store in Downtown Redmond, where customers can drop off difficult-to-recycle items, find Waste Zero products, speak with sustainability experts, get help with account issues, and pay their garbage bill in person. The Recology Store opening in Downtown Redmond is part of Redmond’s transition to a new waste hauler for the first time in over three decades and will be marked by a ribbon-cutting event from 1 – 3 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12, at the new store located in the Bella Bottega Shopping Center, 8862 161st Ave NE, Ste. 104.

Recology was selected through the first competitive bid process for Redmond’s waste hauling contract in over 30 years. The rigorous selection process required multiple rounds of proposals, reviews, and site visits. Proposals were scored on price (55%) and service and sustainability (45%). Recology scored the highest in both categories, and Redmond City Council authorized the contract on Aug. 5, 2024. The contract covers customers in the 98052 zip code. Customers in the 98053 zip code are covered by King County’s contract with Waste Management.

In addition to the Recology Store, the new contract includes several service and sustainability enhancements, including expanded curbside recycling options for Styrofoam and other difficult items, free bulky item pickups, discounts and support for vulnerable populations, and a local call center for enhanced customer support.
