Redmond has an extensive network of on-street bike lanes and off-street trails for easy access to downtown, neighborhoods, businesses, parks, and even to other cities. It is one of a small, but growing number of cities designated as a Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists.

Safety on Urban Trails

Urban trails are rising in popularity with pedestrians and bicyclists. The City's Share the Trail brochure is filled with suggested guidelines to make urban trail recreation a safe and enjoyable experience for all users.

Triggering Traffic Signals

Have you ever sat for a long time waiting for the light to change while on your bicycle? Watch this short video to see how bicyclists can speed up their trip by triggering the green light at a traffic signal.

If you are still having problems triggering a particular traffic signal, please report it by emailing bike@redmond.gov.  In your email, please include the location and the specific leg of the intersection where you are experiencing the problem. For example, on Old Redmond Road and 148 Avenue NE, on the east leg of Old Redmond Road in the left turn lane.

Bike to Work Day and Month

Redmond is committed to providing great transportation alternatives. It promotes Bike to Work Day with bike stations along the trail and free give-aways for bicycle commuters. View additional details at GoRedmond.com or at the Cascade Bicycle Club site.

Derby Days Bicycle Criterium

Derby Days
This is the oldest bike race in the country, and Redmond makes it a big part of its Derby Days annual summer celebration. Compete or just watch the action. Kids are invited to participate in the Derby Day Parade on their bicycles or any other set of wheels they can find.

Velodrome Racing

Redmond is home to one of the few Velodromes on the west coast. Track bicycle races at the Velodrome, with participants from all over the country, are thrilling to watch on spring and summer nights. The Marymoor Velodrome Association also offers track riding classes for adults and kids.

Bicycle Clubs and Groups In and Around Redmond

Whether you want to watch the herons on the Sammamish Slough or bike to the wineries or push yourself really hard, there is always a club around Redmond that can provide you with just the kind of riding you are looking for. Here is a list of bicycling clubs, many of which host rides in the area. Some of the bigger employers may have their own cycling clubs or teams.
