LWIT Offers Early Achievers Opportunity Grant

 
Kirkland, Wash.: Lake Washington Institute of Technology (LWIT), in collaboration with the Washington State Department of Early Learning’s Early Achievers program, is offering opportunities for childcare professionals to earn certificates and/or an associate degree in Early Childhood Education.  Read More >>

 
The Early Achievers Opportunity Grant provides funding (tuition, books, and student support services) to help students earn stackable certificates, leading to an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education. By providing scholarship funds, the Early Achievers Opportunity Grant allows childcare professionals to further their career development while expanding knowledge and skillsets in early childhood education. Funding is provided by the Washington State Department of Early Learning and the US Department of Health and Human Services and Department of Education Race to the Top – Early Learning Challenge (RTT) grant.
 
Eligibility requirement for childcare professionals:
·        Washington State residency
·        Employment at an Early Achievers childcare facility (10 hrs/week; 40 hrs/month; minimum of 3 months)
·        Plan to pursue an early childhood education certificate or AA degree
·        Completed application
 
Lake Washington Institute of Technology will be holding information sessions for interested students on Wednesday, August 21, at 7pm and again on Monday, September 9, at 7pm. Both sessions will be held in the Early Learning Center, S8, at LWIT’s Kirkland Campus. Directions and campus maps can be found at www.lwtech.edu/directions.
