Mustangs come home from state tournament victorious against Kentridge and losing 2nd game to #2 Seed Kentwood

Kent Memorial Park on May 19th proved to be a cruel state tourney site for the Redmond Mustangs once again as Redmond couldn't find a way to win both games in the single elimination state tournament.  But they took one hard fought, thrilling victory with all it's glory back home to Redmond and the fans are joyously celebrating and already looking forward to next year.  Read More >>

GAME ONE:  In the first game against Kentridge, the Mustangs clung to a 4-0 lead only to watch it evaporate in the 6th and 7th innings. At the top of the 8th, Kentridge led 5-4. The Mustangs wouldn't yield. Junior Brent Firth led off with a double. Then, pinch hitter Adam Cline, tripled into left-center to score Firth and tie the score. The next hitter.  Peyton Lutz propelled the Mustangs to the quarterfinals driving a ball over the left-fielder's head for a walk-off win.  Kentridge bowed low to our 'Stang warriors.

GAME TWO:  From the first inning against Kentwood,  it seemed the Mustangs luck changed. Two line drives off the bats of Conner Bozman and Patrick McGrath were snared by Kentwood defenders. In inning Two, the Conquerors scored four runs, two on an odd one hop, high chopper that cleared the third baseman's head to score two with two out. A bloop single from the next hitter made it 4-0, Kentwood. Though the Mustangs continued to hit the ball hard, baseballs continued to fall into Kentwood gloves as Redmond fell 5-0 and watched their season come to an end.

As twelve seniors played their last few innings for the "Stangs this Saturday; it was an emotional time for the parents, fans, support staff and team.

Redmond concludes its season with 16-9 record, a Kingco 4A title, a top eight in state finish, and #6 state ranking from the Seattle Times. Quite the season.  Way to go, Stangs!
