The Rotary Club and Redmond Reporter partner to award a Community volunteer MVP

The Redmond Reporter and the Rotary Club of Redmond want to honor a star volunteer in our community with the Rotary Community MVP of the Year Award. E-mail your nominations for a Community MVP who has committed an extraordinary amount of volunteer time in Redmond to redmondrotary@yahoo.com . The deadline for nominations is Dec. 15. The winner will be honored with an award at The Greater Redmond Chamber of Commerce Awards Luncheon Jan. 20, 2010.

The nominations must include the name and contact information for the nominee and the name and contact information for the person making the nomination. The nomination also must include a brief paragraph about what the nominee has done to help out in the community through volunteerism.

So as we celebrate the holidays with family and friends, let’s provide a helping hand to those who might need an extra boost — and highlight those people making a difference in Redmond.

  1. I recommend Miguel Llanos miguel.llanos@msnbc.com for your volunteer MVP award.

Miguel and his family have been longtime residents of Redmond. Miiguel is a co-founder of the Redmond Historical Society and an officer and/or Newsletter Editor since it's existence. The society is now 10 years old is instrumental in building to our city's a cultural architecture. The Society's influence and impact is seen on RCTV, in City Hall exhibits, Public Safety Building art, city parks, our schools, the Saturday Market, Old Redmond School House Community Center. the Internet, naming city streams, and environmental stewardship. Two city Mayors and a longtime City Clerk are members.

Miguel was probably the youngest co-founder of the Society. His youthful exuberance and technical smarts has a lot to do with the success and influence of the Society. At semi-monthly meetings, Miguel will introduce speakers and runs the multi-media events. He participates in city events of significance, eg Derby Days, etc. Last year Miguel was nominated by the Mayor and appointed by the Council to the Heritage Commission. Miguel is an active Land Steward for the GREEN-REDMOND PARTNERSHIP.

Miguel Llanos is a major player in Redmond culture; and role model for many of our city's volunteer leaders.
Miguel presently works as an Editor for MS-NBC.
