The first step of the process is to seek feedback from parents on the criteria the boundary committee will use to evaluate possible new boundaries. Parents of students in the schools listed below will receive an email by the end of January with a link to the boundary criteria survey. B.Y.
Redmond, Wash. – Lake Washington School District will build three new schools in the Redmond area to meet the needs of its growing enrollment. New schools draw enrollment from neighborhoods now assigned to existing schools. As a result, a boundary committee is beginning the process to determine the boundaries for two new elementary schools and one new middle school.

The new middle school and one elementary school will be located in Redmond Ridge. The other elementary school will be in north Redmond. The two new elementary schools are scheduled to open in fall 2018. The new middle school will open in fall 2019.

All three schools are part of the district’s Building on Success program. They were funded by the 2016 April bond measure. These projects will help reduce overcrowding and accommodate the district’s fast-growing enrollment. The projects were recommended by the community-based Long-Term Facilities Planning Task Force.

The committee will need to distribute enrollment among all Redmond schools as it determines the new boundaries. That means the following schools will be involved in the boundary process:

Middle Schools
Elementary Schools
·         New: Redmond Ridge Middle School
·         Redmond Middle School
·         Evergreen Middle School

·         New: North Redmond Elementary
·         New: Redmond Ridge East Elementary
·         Alcott Elementary
·         Dickinson Elementary
·         Einstein Elementary
·         Mann Elementary
·         Redmond Elementary
·         Rockwell Elementary
·         Rosa Parks Elementary
·         Wilder Elementary

The boundary committee will be made up of the principals from each school and a team of district administrators. The committee’s charge is to provide a recommendation to the superintendent so that boundaries can be set before registration for the 2018-19 school year. The superintendent will make a final recommendation for school board action.

This committee will use priorities provided by the community to analyze boundary options. To develop the recommendation, they will use:
·         current and projected data
·         school site specific information
·         regional/geographic considerations
·         feeder pattern considerations
·         demographic considerations
·         stakeholder input
Parents will be informed and engaged throughout the boundary process. Information will be provided on the district website and through email. In-person meetings as well as online surveys will gather feedback from parents and the community. There will be several different opportunities to provide feedback.

The first step of the process is to seek feedback from parents on the criteria the committee will use to evaluate possible new boundaries. Parents of students in the schools listed above will receive an email by the end of January with a link to the boundary criteria survey.
