Eastside Community Gardens Topic of May 18 Meeting:

Sustainable Redmond Spring Speaker Series Continues at Old Redmond Schoolhouse

Sustainable Redmond will hold the third of its Spring Speaker Series at 7pm on Monday, May 18th at Redmond’s Old Schoolhouse Community Center – a change from past meeting venues.  This meeting will highlight community garden initiatives in Kirkland and Bellevue as well as Redmond.  The meeting is open to everyone and all are welcome to attend.  Read More >>

Gardens, whether in a community pea-patch, in containers on an apartment balcony or in a back yard can nourish both the individual and the broader community.  Panelists from Redmond, Kirkland and Bellevue will discuss garden plots big and small plus feeding, teaching and building community through urban agriculture.   The featured panelists are:

Redmond City Outdoor Programs Administrator Cindy Johnson discussing Redmond Pea Patches, Edible Kirkland Nourishing Networks volunteer Joanne Hedou and Janet Farness, Co-Chair of Orchard Gardens (Bellevue).

Following the panel discussion, the remainder of the meeting will be allocated for smaller interest groups to gather, exchange ideas, consider potential follow-ups and share contact info as desired.  Additional resources on these topics will also be available.

It’s not too late to get edible plants in the ground, so bring your friends to learn more about these Eastside gardening and community building opportunities.  The meeting will conclude at 8:30pm.
